Field of Dreams
Just Planting Seeds Movement

A new and exciting NPO we have started supporting is the Just Planting Seeds Movement, a youth rugby, education and feeding programme in Manenberg, Cape Town, led by local organiser Jason Poleman.

Manenberg is one of the hardest hit townships in SA when it comes to gangsterism, violence and substance abuse.

Just Planting Seeds runs a high-level boys’ and girls’ rugby academy, after-school support and a feeding programme delivering over 14,000 meals. In 2025, its teams were nearly unbeaten, with seven players selected for Western Province squads, with 3 ladies making the National SA team. Jason has been doing all this with next to no financial support, working 2 jobs to fund his work.

In 2025 Helpmore has stepped into back Jason, and our monthly support has funded rugby balls, boots, gym equipment, school supplies, a small salary for Jason and coach stipends . We are also busy with a dedicated website plus safety upgrades at the Manenberg clubhouse, including a 12m x 4m protective wall to shield against stray bullets during gang violence.

Jason Poleman, Founder of Just Planting Seeds, said: “Helpmore’s support has been transformational, a game-changer for us. Having consistency in funding has changed everything for our organisation and gives us real
confidence for 2026.”
